Most people think bitcoin mining is dead for the people who can’t afford to spend thousands on advanced mining setups, and maybe they’re right, but today I found a gadget that, while not being the most efficient miner, could certainly be a cool display piece on your shelf!

So what is this unusual combo of semi-functionality and style points?

Solo Mining!

This is the name given to bitcoin miners that mine without being a part of a group, also known as a pool. Unlike pool mining, however, solo miners get to keep 100% of what they earn, meaning you have a tiny chance to win 3.125 bitcoin, worth a whopping $112,662 if your little miner happens to strike virtual gold. They come in a range of prices, but the “just for fun” ones seem to start at around $30.

Please, don’t get your hopes up too much though, as the chances of successfully mining a block are astronomically low, like one in trillions, but honestly, I think that’s part of the appeal! Wouldn’t it be fun to be able to say that you have a little machine that has a tiny chance of making you rich at any time? Plus, it’s a pretty cool looking accessory for your desk, or as I’m thinking; inside a PC!

That’s all for now, thanks for reading!
